A TIFF AT A NOMINATION

A little difficulty occurred at the nomination for Cheviot on Thursday. Messrs Saunders, Mollwraith and Fend all, were duly proposed. The

Returning Officer proceeded to take a show of hands, when Mr Saunders claimed the right to speak. Messrs Pendall and Mcllwraith wish to have a show of hands taken, and the Returning Officer left it to the meeting, which decided by a considerable majority to take a show first. Mr Saunders again protested against this illegal action, but the show was duly called for, and resulted as follows Saunders, 2, Feadall 25, Mcllwraith 19. Saunders supporters refused to vote. Mr Saunders said he would address them at *Amberley next Tuesday on the illegality of the nomination.
