DUNEDIN SPUING MEETING. [By Telegraph.] Dunedin, Nov. 30. The Dunedin Spring Meeting commenced yesterday, in lovely weather. There was hut a small attendance, only about 2000 persons being present. The racing was good, but not exciting, the favorites winning in every case. The following are the results: — Handicap Hurdle Race, of 35 sovs; one mile and a half, over seven flights. Mr P. Butler’s The Agent, 12s 131 b 1 Mr Proudfoot’s Isaac, 105 t... ... 2 Mr Christie’s Katerfelto, lOst ... 3 Trovatore, Bst 71b, and Putative, Bst 91b also started.
Won hands down by a length, Katerfelto a bad third. Time —3rain, 15secs. Of £399 in the totalisators, £l9B was on the Agent. St Andrews’ Handicap, of 100 sovs. Two Miles. Mr Goodman’s Chancellor, Bst 91b ... 1 Mr Kirby’s Adamant, 7st 51b ... 2 Messrs Mason hnd Vallance’s Volun tcer, Bst 61b ... 3 Tasman, 6st 131 b ; aud Legerdemain, 6st 91b also started. Half-woy up tho straight tho whips were out to all but Chancellor, who came away full of running, and won by two lengths. Time- 2min 47neo. Of £403 in the totalisators, £l7O was on Chancellor. Handicap Time Trot, of 50 sovs. Three miles. Mr Hamilton’s Peggy (32sec) ... 1 Mr Ifanley’s Bella (22soc) ... ... 2 Mr Anderson’s Billiard Ball (40sec) 3 Seven others started. Peggy, who broke once, won all tho way. Spring Handicap, of 50 sovs. One mile and a distance. Mr Cutts’ Nautilus, sst 41b 1 Mr Williams’Talent, Bst 21b ... 2 THIS DAY. The Wellington Racing Club’s Spring meeting took place to day. The attendance was poor but tho weather was pleasant. When the saddling bell was rung for the first race there were only about 500 present. The detectives are going around taking the names of all persons concerned in getting up half-crown sweeps.
