TRIAL OF TITOKOWARU.
[By Telegraph.] New Plymouth, Nov, 26. Titokowaru was brought up at the Police Court this morning, charged with having on October 21 used threatening words to the effect that he would burn down the Hotel and murder the women and children, and that he would set fire to Manaia, also saying at Fort Rolleston, Parihaka : “Do you think my people would run away from such a lot of men as you have brought here ? Have the Europeans forgotten Tinuturumokai and Te Ngateotemanu ? A day will yet come” —or words to that effect. Mr Standish appeared for the prosecutor and applied to have Titokowaru bound over to keep the peace. The case is now proceeding. LATER.
Titokowaru was ordered to find two securities in £500 each, to keep the peace for twelve months. In the meantime he will be kept in gaol till he finds securities.
