GENTLEMEN,— I had fully decided upon resigning my trust as Mayor of Timaru at the expiration of the present term. On receipt, however, of the above numerously signed requisition, and from the very marked manner in which you are pleased to express confidence in the management of Municipal affairs during my term of office, 1 am induced to comply with your wish. I shall therefore be pleased to consent to allow myself to be again nominated for reelection, and if elected, shall continue to discharge the duties of the office with no less degree of interest on behalf of the ratepayers than hitherto. The following is the polling-place for the Electoral District of Timaru THE COURTHOUSE, TIMARU. RICHMOND BEETHAM, Returning Officer. GLADSTONE ELECTORAL DISTRICT. IN pursuance of “The Regulation of Elections Act, 1881,” I, Francis Worcester Stubbs, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Gladstone, do hereby gi"c notice that by virtue of a writ bearing date the ninth (9th) day of November, 1881, under the hand of the Clerk of the Writs, an ELECTION will be held for the return of one qualified person to serve as member for the said electoral district, and that the nomination of candidates will take place at the office of the New Zealand Meat Preserving Company, Washdyke, at noon on the first day of December, 1881 ; and that the poll, if necessary, will be taken at the several polling places of the said district on the ninth day of December, 1881.
