SUPREME COURT.

The next circuit sitting of the Supreme Court at Tiraaru commences on December 13, and Mr Beetham has posted notices that in his capacity as Sheriff he will proceed on Wednesday next to draw the names of persons to be summoned as jurors. The grand jurors will be summoned for December 10, but will be informed that the Court will not sit till the 13th. Common jurors will be summoned for the 13th and a second set for the 19th, to be called upon in case the sitting lasts over the first week, as common jurors are not required to attend over a Sunday after being called, except any jury who may have a case in band.

Th following is a list of the criminal cases already on the calendar, the committals having taken place at Timaru, unless otherwise stated, and on the dates given:—John Tate, arson July 1 ; John Eobins alius H. Williams, forgery and uttering, July 13; John Powell, stealing from a dwelling, Temuka, July 20; William Brown, sodomy, . Temuka, August 1 ; Frederick William Dunn, larceny as a servant, August 23; Lewis and Abraham Moses, arson, August 2(3 ; Andrew Taylor, stealing from the person, Oct. 7, John King, false pretences, Oct. 15. None of the accused except Tate and the two Moses succeeded in obtaining bail. In addition to the above criminal

cases there are two civil cases set down for hearing—Waimate Railway Company v. Macgregor, and National Bank r. Judge Ward —and others are spoken of.
