Chancellor led off but was soon displaced by Talent, who led to the rails, when Billingsgate and Chancellor went to the front, the former winning by half a length. Time —Imin. 46|sec, The Derry, 1£ Miles. Mr Westmacot’s The Dauphin (Ray) 1 Mr Walters’ Peeress Colt (Dernt) 2 Mr Horsefall’s Nonpariel (Hope) 3 Mataku, Hinemoa and Diosma also ran. Betting—2 to 1 Peeress Colt and Dauphin, 3 to 1 Hinemoa, 5 to 2 Mataku. . , Mataku jumped off with the lead, followed by Nonpariel and Dauphin. Opposite the stand Dauphin went up to Mataku, and the two raced together to the straight, when Dauphin drew away. The Peeress Colt and Nonpariel collared Mataku half-way up the straight, but failed to catch The Dauphin, who won by one length, Nonpariel a good third. Time—2mins 44secs. 0. J. C. Handicbp.
