[Ebutee’s Agenoy.l Dark DoingsSydney, Nov. 5. In the Legislative Assembly, last night, a lengthy debate took place in reference to the Eoyal Commissioners’ report on the Milburn Creek mine enquiry. Mr Baker, late Minister of mines contended that he was fully entitled to the money he had received. Mr G-arrett declared that he had not been connected with the mine for a long time, and courted further enquiry into the matter. The discussion was finally adjourned to Tuesday next. Promotion. Intelligence has been received that Commodore Wilson has been raised to the rank of Vice-Admiral-
A Light SentenceMelbourne, Nor. C. Thorpe, late teller of the Bank of Victoria, was to-day sentenced to two years imprisonment for embezzlement, but was recommended by the jury to mercy on account of the great laxity which had prevailed in the conduct of the Bank’s business.
