We are informed that a requisition is in course of signature about Temuka, to ask a prominent resident in that locality to contest the seat for Qeraldine at the nest election, We are requested to draw attention to the advertisement of Messrs Bailey and Kerr’s American Novelty Store, opened for a few days only, in a shop next Messrs Gabites and Plante’s, with a varied collection ol American notions, patent articles, labor saving inventions, and ingenious things of all kinds. Some time ago the Timaru Labor League sent a petition to the Queensland Government, signed by about 250 persons, asking if that Government could render them any assistance in emigrating to Queensland, or promise them employment if they went over. A reply was received to-day to the effect that no such assistance or promise could be given.
