At the wool sale bales were catalogued, and a firm and active demand was experienced. Prices generally for all descriptions of wool now rule one half-penny higher than at the close of last sales. A meeting of Irish Bishops has been held, at which resolutions were passed expressing the opinion that the authors of the Irish Land Act are entitled to the gratitude of tenants. They recommended the latter to utilise fully the benefits provided by the measure, and warned them against secret agencies or acts of violence and intimidation. The resolutions further express the opinion that it is desirable that amnesty should be granted to the prisoners now in custody under the Coercion Act.
