Mails close at the Chief Post Office Timsru, for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under : Saturday, Oct. 1. For Northern Porta of New Zealand, per Penguin, at 2.50 a.m. For Australian Colonies, per Botomahana, at 12,40. p.m. (will connect with steamer leaving Melbourne on October 12.) The Waipara will leave Hokitika for West Coast Sounds on Tuesday, Oct. 4, and for Ukarito about Wednesday, Oct. 19. (Signed) Ed. Cook, Chief Postmaster. Chief Post Office, Timaru, Sept. 26, 1881.
