The insurances on the recent fire at Townsville include £1625 in the South British Company, half being reinsured in the Standard ; £SOO in the New Zealand Company, half being reinsured in the South British ; and £SOO each with the Colonial and New Zealand Companies. Price of Oats. Melbotjene, Sept. 20. Short oats are quoted at 3s sd. Victorian Parliament. The Victorian Parliament reassembled to-day. Victorian Bank Bobbery. The Bank of Victoria offers £SOO reward for the discovery of the robber of the missing notes. Smallpox in Victoria. A case which is believed to be smallpox is reported from Yackandandah, in the north-east, of this colony. The symptoms so far are mild, but the patient has been isolated. Jolimont Accident* f An inquiry into the Jolimont railway accident has resulted in finding that it was due to the dangerous condition of the tires of the wheels. The Court further found that the management of the Hobson’s Bay railway was very lax, hut could not fix the responsi* bility upon any one individual. It is understood that £35,000 will _he re* quired to pay the liabilities arising out of the accident.
