£j ate Adyertisements. THE WASHDYKB SCHOOL. [TO THE EDITOB.] SIR,— I have no desire to shirk any responsibility connected with anything I have ever written, neither have I any personal animosity against the Inspector of Schools, but as a public officer his public work is open to public criticism. If J. M. will agree to meet me and produce evidence thatlhave either perverted facts or indulged in personal abuse I will publicly apologise therefor; and I will undertake to prove to him that what he states as fact is not true. His letter, which is evidently inspired, confirms the impression which I expressed in the excised portion of my former letter, that the late report on Washdyke School was really intended to hit somebody else than the teacher. That individual has no objections to be fairly hit at when he gives occasion for it, but he decidedly objects that anyone else should be hit for him. If J, M., in charging another with indulging in abuse, had avoided doing so himself and shown wherein perversion and abuse had been made use of, his letter would have had more weight, Again, I say, his statements as to the inspections of the school in question are simply not true, and I am willing that it should go to proof.
