At the wool sale to-day 7000 bales were offered. A fair demand wa's again experienced. A Hint to the Turk. The Powers have sent collective notes to the Porte, demanding the early-des* patch of a Commission to Armenia to make provision for carrying out necessary reforms in that country. Land League. The Irish Land League Convention at Dublin has now closed its sitting. The whole tone of the convention was violently anti-English. At the final sitting, it was resolved to submit cases to the Irish Land Commision to tost the working of the : Land Act, and it was further decided to take measures to protect Irish industries. The French in Tunis, Paris, Sept. 18. Telegrams are to hand from Tunis announcing that the rebel Arab' tribes continue to show an active hostility to the French troops throughout the country, and frequent skirmishes are taking place with the enemy. The Bey has sent a communication to the Powers protesting against what he understands to be the intention of France to occupy Tunis, President Garfield. Washington, Sept. 17. The latest bulletin from Longbnnch reports that the President has suffered another relapse, and that symptoms of blood poisoning have set in. The President’s condition is pronounced precarious. Aye n l ,) Sparring* ' Calcutta, Sept 18. Telegrams to hand from Afghanistan report that the Ameer, whoso army is posted in a strong position in the neighborhood of Candahar, is endeavor, ing to join issue with Ayoub Khan, and with this view is daily engaged in attempting to draw the enemy into a pitched battle. Tip to the present time, however, Ayoub has declined to accept the Ameer’s challenge, and his troops remain in a state of inaction. . News to hand further announce that large bodies of Cabulese .who formed part of Ayoub’s forces have deserted from Candahar.
