[Reuter’s Agency, j A Well-earned Retirement. London, Sep. 13. Lord Justice Rramwell, Baron of the Exchequer, lias resigned his seat on the Bench. His Lordship is 75 years of age. Perturbed Tunis. Telegrams are to hand from Tunis reporting that Arab insurgents made'an attack to-day upon the French position at Taghouan, about 50 miles to the south of Tunis, in great force, com pletely surrounding the camp. Desperate fighting' ensued, and continued for several hours, with heavy loss on both sides. It is further _ stated that the Arabs have broken down the aqueduct, which supplies the City of Tunis with water. - Great alarm continues to be felt throughout the principality at the altitude of the native tribes. It has transpired that a meeting of the Council of Notables, which had been summoned by the Khedive to suggest a course of action to be pursued at the present crisis of Egyptian affairs, was held to-day. The demands of the military were discussed at length, and the action of the officers met with general disapproval, It was ultimately resolved that Chcrif Pasha should be requested to reconsider hisdecision of yesterday and to accept the Presidency of the Council. He was at length prevailed upon to accede to the wishes of the Notables, and is now engaged in the formation of a Cabinet. i
