Two lads named Beech {and Curtain, aged 15 and 14 years respectively, while fossicking amongst (he diggings at the head of the Indigo, picked up a specimen weighing 13 oes, 7dwt., of line smelted gold. The fastest passenger steamship afloat is the London and North western Hailway Company's Holyhead paddle steamship Violet. She has attained a velocity almost equal to that of the best torpedo boats.
