Fire Clay, and an excellent Chalk is likewise found in large quantities, and is pronounced by competent authority to be eminently adapted for pottery and sanitary pipes, gas retorts, firebricks, &c. The Coal is easily obtained, and is of the finest quality for household and manufacturing purposes, and its superiority for the production of gas, and for steam purposes, has been proved by reliable tests, As this Coal is admitted to be a really good Coal for steaming purposes, it is proposed to have constant supplies in depots, so that the public can always get what they may require. Building Stone is found on the property, and Marble within a few chains, of a very superior description, also abounds, The Building Stone is a fine white stone, easily worked, and does not disintegrate from exposure to weather, some quantity of this stone having b.en used in the building of the Christchurch Cathedral, A large quantity of good Timber is in close proximity to the ground, and easily obtainable.
