[Reuter’s Agency:j Ship on Fire. London, Sept. 7. A fire broke out to-day an board the ship Garoloch, loading for Sydney, and before it could be extinguished a large portion of the cargo was destroyed or damaged. A Liberal returned. Sopt. B.* The election for the vacant seat in the House of Commons for Country Tyrone, Ireland, took place to-day, and resulted in the return of a Liberal by a narrow majority, A Parnelite, who was one of the candidates, was defeated by a largo majority. Regatta postponed, Ottawa, Sept. 8. The international regatta, which was to have taken place yesterday at Toronto has been postponed until to day owing to unfavourable wcathor.
