TIMARU HIGH SCHOOL.
The ordinary meeting of the Board of Governors of the above school was held last evening. Present Rev. W. Gillies and Messrs Chisholm and Sutter. An apology for his absenpe was received from the Rev. G. Barclay.. . Letters were received from Messrs Howell and Bruce, the former resigning Lis seal L on’ account of continued ill* health,.and the .latter stating that he had asked the Waimate County Council of which body ho was the representative on the Board,for four months leave of absence. Messrs Maclean and Stewart advised the Board of the sale of two reserves, 160 acres Albufy at £3 10s, and 1000 acres at Waimate at £2 6d per acre. Messrs Gillies and Chisholm were appointed to sign deeds &c. in connecncction with these sales. It was resolved that three-fourths of the.price of the Waimate section should be'allowed to remain on mortgage at 7 per cent. , • Mr J. Marshman wrote informing the Board that their share of the revenue derived from other school reserves would be £9O, payable at the end of the year. The Rector’s monthly report showed the present al tendance to be 130, an increse of two daring the month. There had been a good deal of sickness among the teachers, but the school had not suffered in consequence. Extra work having been clone by the two pupil teachers, the . Rector recommended that a special grant of £lO should be made to recompense them. A request for additional furniture was made m the report. . The recommendation was approved, and the furniture ordered to be obtained. The Chairman stated the revenue and expenditure for the current year tobeas follow :—Revenue. £2715 ; expenditure, £2445 ; leaving a credit balance of £270. Accounts amounting to £lB5 7s were passed for payment. ’ The meeting then terminated.
