DIED FROM EXPOSURE.

Dunedin, Aug. 25, At the inquest upon the body of the man Campbell, found in Ross’ right-of-way, most contradictory evidence was given. A boy said he saw deceased in the right of-way at half-pa-4 seven on Monday night. He was then asleep and two men were looking at him, who moved away as the hoy approached, hut returned again. The boy went to get a policeman, but before getting one returned to make sure the man was still there. He found he had gone, and asked a woman mured “Irish Kate, ’’ who said Dicks, a colored man, had taken him into his house. Rutland Anderson were the two men referred to, who said they, with Dicks, took the man into a lion.se, but finding his watch was gone, only kept him there ten minutes, and then put him back. He bad only Is Gd on him. Dicks stated this also. A man named Winfield said he saw a man lying there after eleven o’clock, as he passed going home, On the contrary, Constable Millar said at ten o’clock he looked down the right of-way and saw nothing to attract his attention, and at twelve o’clock Constables Millar and Sullivan said they both went down and saw nothing. The money deceased was known to have was accounted for all hut £1 14s, and the coroner said there was little doubt the men who were witnesses hid got his money amongst them. Nothing was known as to the disappearance of the watch. The medical evidence showed that deceased died from exposure, ami the jury returned a verdict to that eifcct,
