ALLEGED CANNIBALISM.
The “ Fiji Times ” of a recent date says :—“ There would not appear to be any truth in the reported case of cannibalism at the mountain town of Na Drau, in Viti Levu, respecting which rumors were so rife some time time ago. The tale was brought to Levuka by several Europeans who came up from about the neighborhood of Tauve and the Ananas ; it was also communicated by letter from thence to a resident in town, and it was repeated by Fijians, who said they had heard it atNusova. Upon the faith of these rumors it was published as a current report. Since then, however, the Rev Mr Lindsay visited that district, and after making inquiry, he concludes that it is groundless.”
