THE MOUNT SOMERS LINE.

Ashburton, Aug. 10 At a largely attended meeting held to-night a series of resolutions were adopted favoring the construction of the Mount Somers line according to the original survey by Mr Triphook, and also affirming that more vigorous efforts should be made to complete the line. The following resolution was also passed that in the opinion of this meeting it is in the highest degree desirable that in the proposed division of the constituency, the Borough and a sufficient quantity of the surrounding country should he made one Electorate and the- remainder of the County' another.” 'The Mayor presided at the meeting.
