Telegrams arc to hand from Pretoria announcing that the formal transfer of the government of the Tiansvaal to the Boors took place yesterday, and a proclamation announcing the formation of a South African Republic has since been issued. Desertion of the Ameer’s Troops. Calcutta, August 9. Intelligence has been received from Afghanistan of further serious defections from the ranks of the Ameer’s army in Cundahar. The hulk of Abdul Rahman’s infantry have deserted, and have joined Ayoub Khuu.
