HUNT CLUB STEEPLECHASES. [Br Telegraph.] Christchurch, This Day. The Canterbury Hunt Club held its first annual Steeplechase Meeting on the Racecourse to-day. The weather was glorious, but there was only a moderate attendance. Hunt Club Cur, of GO sovs. Lunn’s Fakir (Owner) 1 Lyford’s Winliold... (P. Duncan) 2 Flora ... ... ... (Owner) 3 Native, Tawera, and Lucy also ran. Fakir who never made a mistake led soon after starting and won hands down. Winfield baulked only once but the others jumped badly throughout. Flora was a very bad third. It was a vciy slow race. Gone Away Stakes, of 80 sovs. The Agent ... ... (O’Connor) 1 Quamby ... ... (Owner) 2 Clarence ... ... (ILLnnn) 3 The Agent won by two lengths, Quamby three lengths in front of Clarence. Ad three horses jumped beau I i fully throughout.
