EFFECTS OF TIGHT LACING.
An inquest was recently held at Home upon the body of Mrs Amelia Jury, aged 48, at which some evidence was given that should ad as a deterrent upon the practice of tight lacing. Hie doctor who made the post mortem examination said he found that the stomach was con fme ted in (ho middle by a firm band, narrowing it to one eight of ns usual size, so that there were virtually two st imac!is, and this contraction was on a level with a deep indentation on the liver, corresponding to where the stays wore tightly bound round. The liver itself was flattened out and was driven down very deep into the nolvis also, and there was no doubt that this was also prdneed by tight lacing. The Coroner said that he some time ago held an inquest where it was shown that the liver had been very seriously injured through tight lacing, and perhaps these cases would act as a caution against the practice now adopted.
