MINISTERIAL ELECTIONS.
Melbourne, July 27. Considerable excitement prevailed in Melbourne yesternight pending receipt of the latest electoral returns. Large crowds assembled opposite the news- . paper offices where the results were posted. Sir Bryan O’Loghlen’s majority amounts to 91, whereas Mr Gauuson was defeated by 203. On all sides great satisfaction was expressed at the defeat of the Minister of Lands. It is expected Parliament will now finish the labors of session anil (hen go into a short recess to enabletheMinister to formulate measures. It is understood Mr J. P. Casey will oppose Mr Robertson, the Constitutional candidate, for Puhvorth. Government propose closing the session and commencing a new session on August 3, when the Minister of Kail ways, by public advertisement, withdraws all official circulars or memos of a political character pieviously issued. Dobson, who w'as returned to the Legislative Council unopposed for the Southern Provinces, now intimates that on the approaching resignation of the Hon W. J. Clarke he will offer hunself for the seat vacated by that gentleman.
