[Reuter’s Agencv.j Disastrous Storm in the Shetlands* London, July 23. A very severe storm has passed over the Shetland Islands. Eleven fishing vessels have been totally wrecked, and seventy fishermen have been drowned. Cleared out with over £50,000Telegrams are to hand from Cuba, announcing that two employees of the Bank at Matanzas have embezzled 200,000 dollars, and have succeeded in effecting their escape with the money. Fiendish WorkJuly 24. Six infernal machines, concealed in barrels of cement, which formed part of the cargo of the ship Malta, which recently arrived at Liverpool from America, were discovered to day. On examination, they were found to contain charges of dynamite. The police are instituting enquiries, but have not, up <0 the present time, been able to trace the owners.
Ayouh and AbdulCalcutta, July 25. Telegrams hare been received to-day from Candahar reporting that Ayoub Khan has endeavored to open negotiations with the Ameer for a cessation of hostilities. Abdu Eahman has,however, steadily refused to consider any overtures on the part of his opponent.
