THE PRESIDENT’S CONDITION.
[By Cable]. Washington, July 23. President Gaifield has suffered a relapse, but one which proved only temporary. He is now again making satisfactory progress towards recovery. July 24. The news of the relapse suffered by President Garfield has caused renewed anxiety throughout the States. July 25. The medical attendants of the President having decided that it would be necessary to perform an operation to relieve him from the effects of the bullet wound in bis loins, an incision was made this morning in his back to facilitate the discharge of pus, with complete success. It is believed that this treatment will materially aid Mr Garfield’s recovery.
