A ROYAL GIFT.

Bagshot House, upon the domain of Windsor —a domain which in all extends over 14,000 acres—has been given by the Queen as a residence for life to the Duke of Connaught. But the House was found to be old, out of repair, and altogether unsuited to the ideas of a modem prince. The questions arose in the councils of the Commissioners of Woods and Forests whether it should be altered or pulled down. Prince Arthur decidedly preferred pulling down. Repair and adaptation to his wants would have cost, it was. estimated, £13,000. The prince then made an offer to the Commissioners of Woods and Forests that he would build a new house if they would contribute £IB,OOO ; and this has been agreed to.
