FEIGNING TO BE DEAD.
A telegram from Adelaide in the Melbourne “Argus” snjs : markable occurrence has just boon reported as having taken place at Bungarec, near Clare, a day or two ago. Two' workmen' named Russell and Godefroy quarrelled and had a stand-up light. Russell knocked Godefroy down, and some companions induced tho latter
to pretend that he was dead, which he did. He was then covered up with a tarpaulin, and the paries to the deception told Russell that the man he was fighting with was dead. GodeDoj fell asleep under the tarpaulin, and the others retired to their tents. Edssell in the middle of the night lit a number of candles and placed them round the tarpaulin, after which he began praying for the soul of the dead man. The pravers finished, he rolled up his swag and" cleared out. He has not since been heard of.
