A telegram from New Plymouth, states that the Bank of New South Wales has purchased the vacant corner section in Devon street, below the “ Taranaki Herald" office, at £1 10s per foot. The Bank intends erecting a handsome building on it at once. The above is certainly an astonishingly low price for a Bank site in the capital of a provincial district. The Taranaki people must, have small faith in their breakwater.
The English Lodge Victory, 1.0.G.T., meets this evening at the Foresters’ Hall. /n advertisement appears elsewhere re proposed linseed cake and oil manufactory. Drs Hammond and Lovegrove have dissolved partnership. Dr Hammond may still be consulted at his residence, Main South Road, and Dr Lovegrove announces that he may be consulted as usual at his residence, corner of Church and Sophia streets.
