[By Telegraph.] Auckland, July 18. The. Southern Cross has arrived from Levuka. The schooner Windward Ho reports the shooting 1 of one of its boat’s crew r.t Pentecost Island. Satisfaction is expressed at the presence of the United States’ frigate in those waters, as the natives who murdered the May Queen crew are believed to be the same as those who murdered Johnson, the American trader, and the American war ship is expected to demand reparation. A deputation waited on the Governor to represent the scarcity of labor. The Governor said that owing to a miscalculation by the Agent-General of Immigration Aid, the difficulty of obtaining suitable vessels for the labor trade would be groat this year. Another lot of 150 coolies have been placed on the Sugar Eefining Company. Measles are still prevalent in some parts of the Group.
