The “ Southland “ News ” is responsible for the followingAs we are informed, a new system of paying the railway employes has been introduced, whereby, instead of handing over the monthly cheques to the men on the Southland section at Invercargill, they are required to go to Dunedin to receive them. This little formality necessitates about 340 miles of travelling occupying a couple of days.”
