TIMAHU—THIS DAY. (Before R. Beethara Esq., R.M.) DEUNKENNESS, Two first offenders were each, fined ss. FOEGEET. John Robins alias Williams, was charged on remand with forging an order for £1 on John Stumbles, farmer, residing at Cannington near the Cave. John Wildermoth, licensee of the Cave Arms Hotel, stated that accused presented the order produced, at his hotel on April 28 last, and asked him to cash it. Did not like the look of it, and therefore told accused that if he would write his name at the back of it he would cash it. Accused thereupon endorsed the order “ John Williams,’, and witness paid him the money. Subsequently discovered it was a forgery, John Stumbles, farmer, residing at Cannington, near the Cave, knew the accused. He was at witness’ place about April 27 or 28. Knew nothing at all about the order produced. _ The accused had no authority from him to obtain money from Mr Wildermoth or anyone else. Believed accused’s name was Robins, There was no other person of witness’ name lesiding near the Cave. The accused, who had nothing to say, was committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court, His Worship intimating that he was prepared to accept bail, accused in £IOO and two sureties of £IOO each. FBOTECTION OEDEE. On the application of Mr Hamersley, Eliza Bainbridge, wife of Richard Bainbridge, who stated that her husband had deserted her, was granted an order for the protection of her earnings. The Court then adjourned.
