UNION INSURANCE COMPANY.
[By Telegraph.] Christchurch, July 5. The annual Meeting of shareholders in the Union Insurance .Company was held at noon to-day. The balance-sheet and report were read, showing a profit of £25,200 on the year’s business, and recommending a dividend of 10 per cent, leaving £12,000 to be carried to the reserve fund, making £52,000 to be carried forward nest year. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, said the business of the Company showed an increase of £13,400 over that of the previous year. The report and balance sheet were unanimously adopted. A resolution was carried, authorising the directors to declare interim dividends in future. Mr L. E. Nathan called attention to the desirability of the Company, separately or in conjunction with other New Zealand companies, establishing a branch office in England. The Chairman promised that the directors would carefully consider the matter.
