TIMARU LABOR LEAGUE AND POLITICAL UNION.
SECOND EDITION
A committee meeting of the members of the Labof League and Political Union was held, at the offices of the Leage on Saturday evening, Mr Cowley in the chair.
It was resolved that the Society should invite applications from the various Hall Committees, re the rental of their halls, with a view to securing a hall as a permanent place of meeting for the League. The Secretary was instructed to put himself into immediate communication with the Queensland Government, and enquire what class of .emigrants they require, what numlpr, and on what terms the Government will consent to receive emigrants from New Zealand, and also whether they are prepared to establish a colony of emigrants from New Zealand in the event of a certain number deciding to quit this colony. It was then resolved that a general meeting of members be called for Tuesday evening next, July 5, at 7.30 o’clock, at the Oddfellows’ Hall, Barnard street, the same to be advertised in the South Canterbury Times and *' Timaru Herald.” The business of this meeting will consist of the election of permanent officers of the League and Union.
