Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past week : Horses—A large number, consisting of 48 head, were entered at their yards for sale, principally light draughts and hacks. They report the demand for draught stock still very limited, and sales difficult to effect, unless when the animals offered are really good and young. For the latter the enquiry is rather better. For light horses and hacks there is no demand. They sold on Saturday a good proportion of their entries, and quote, for heavy draughts, from £25 to £3O ; for light and inferior, £l4 to £2O ,* for ordinary hacks, from £lO to £ls,

Sheep.—Notwithstanding the very wet day on Thursday last, their sale of store sheep at Washdyke was well attended by buyers, and they succeded in placing oyer 3100 sheep at various prices. Most of the lots being sold privately, they withhold prices obtained, but all lots brought very satisfactory rates. Fat sheep—They have made no sales of importance during the week. They quote present value of mutton at from IJd to 2£d per lb. Cattle. —Store cattle: A slightly better demand for well forward steers and heifers. Tney have made no large sales daring the week, and quote prices similar as when they last reported. Fat Cattle; Prime quality of beef is worth 22s 5d per 1001 b.

Messrs William Collins and Co., report holding their regular market and auction at their rooms on Saturday last of produce, and general merchandise. The attendance was large, and there was a good demand for all classes of goods offered. They succeeded in obtaining the following figures; —Derwent potatoes, 60s per ton ; onions, jjd per lb ; hams, 7d ; bacon, 6d ; green pork, 3£d ; carrots, 50s : bran, 80s ; sharps) 100 s ; flour, £9; fowl wheat, 4s per sack ; do, good, 7s; cheese, 3ld to 4d. per lb ; butter, 9d ; do, salted, to 8d ; fowls, 2s 6d t© 3b 6d per pair: turkeys, 7s to 11s per couple; ducks, 5s per pair ; boxes tea, 14s to 18s; kerosene, 19s per case; Hobart jams, 6s per dozen. Household furniture, piano, genuine oil paintings, men’s women’s, and children’s boots of various descriptions and make, moved off at fair rates.
