The French Treaty-
In consequence of the slow progress which has hitherto been made in the negotiations for the renewal of the commercial treaties of 1860 and 1873, between France and England, the French government have agreed to prolong the existing treaties, which would otherwise terminate in October next, for a further period of three months.
Massacre of Spaniards*

Intelligence has been received of a terrible occurrence in Algeria. A large body of native Arabs made an overwhelming attack on the Spanish colonist residents at Saida. The latter could offer but a feeble resistance, and were completely overcome, over 100 being killed and 40 taken prisoners, the majority being seriously wounded.
