CRIMINAL SITTINGS.
[By Telegraph.]
Invercargill, Juno 13,
At the Supreme Court, before Chief Justice Pendergast, the following sentences were passed : Cathleen Macarlhy, concealment of birth, four months ; Henry Ward, larceny as a baillie, nine months; Frank Caste), uttering a forged cheque, twelve months. The civil business was unimportant. The Judge congratulated the Jury on the lightness of the calendar considering the extent of the district, and the largo population. It was evident a criminal class was absent.
Napier, June 13
The Supremo Court opened to day. Eleven offences were charged against thirteen prisoners, comprising six natives and seven Europeans. Most of the offences were of a serious character, the gravest being a charge of bigamy.
