THEATRE ROYAL
Notwithstanding the very inclement weather on Saturday night there was a very satisfactory attendance at the Theatre Royal to witness the performance of “ Pinafore.” Miss Lydia Howarde made an excellent impression as Josephine, Miss Jennie Nye was a charming Hebe, while Miss Dc Glorian sang and acted with great archness and vivacity as Little Buttercup. Mr Marshall, who was in good voice made a very good Sir Joseph, Mr Hayes sang also remarkably well as Ralph Rackstraw Mr Harry Power was hardly well castas Captain Corcoran, and might, we think, have changed places with Mr Fisher, with advantage, who played Dick Deadeyf. The latter infused a good deal of fun into the character of Dick, but the exchange of parts would probably result in an improvement. The piece was nicely mounted, and the dresses were good, as is always the case with this Company. For to night, the last of the Company’s appearance here, and Miss Howarde’s benefit, a great double bill is announced, comprising the favorite burlesque of “ Robinson Crusoe,” and the more ancient but not less popular “Aladdin, or, the Wonderful Scamp.” Such a bill should draw a crammed house.
