NELSON CITY ELECTION.
Nelson, June 7,
The election of a member for Nelson City look place to-day. MrLeviston was returned by a majority of 31, the votes being Leviston, 438; Richmond 407. The election passed off quietly, and without ill-feeling. Roth parties were confident of victory, and the supporters of each candidate worked their hardest. Leviston obtained a majority of 25 at the Port, but lost ground at the polling place at the west of the city. However, he had 30 votes more than his opponent at the Provincial Hall, and thus beat Richmond by 31. The number of electors who recorded their votes was 845, being more than at any previous election.
