[Per Times Special Wire. 1 Sir William Pox at Marton. Marion, June 2. Sir William Pox addressed a large meeting of his constituents at the Temperance Hall last night. The Mayor occupied the chair. Sir William spoke strongly in favor of the present Government, and denounced the reckless finance of the Grey Government. A vote of thanks and confidence in him was carried unanimously. Ho speaks at Bulls on Friday night. A Boy Lost. Ashburton, Juno 2. A boy named Evans, 9 years of age, son of a settler at Waterton, has been missing since Tuesday evening last. Ha had played truant during the day, and on his return home, was sent to bed by his mother, who, when his father came homo at night, asked him to chastise the boy. His father went outside to obtain a switch wherewith to beat the lad, and in his absence the boy slipped outside, and has not been seen since. He had on only his nightshirt at the time, and as the night was dark and raining, fears are entertained as to his safety. Search parties were out yesterday but without result. The Sergeant and the GamblerSergt. Felton having declined to givo up the stock-in trade of the man Goldberg, arrested for swindling on the course at the steeplechases last Friday, the latter has laid an information against him for illegal detention of property. A contract has been made by the Albion Shipping Co. with the New Zealand Land Co. to convey 5000 frozen sheep to London from Otago m their ships.
