MATRIMONIAL.
The “ Auckland Star” of the 17th inst, has the following -An interesting flutter has been created in the Wesleyan Methodist circles by the young minister at Parnell. Among the statutes of the Church is one which virtually prohibits marriage till after four years’ probation. Now this enactment has been boldly set aside by the Rev. L. M. Isitt. Mr Isitt
has only passed his second year and entered his third, yet last week the rev. gentleman quietly sailed for New Plymouth, and by yesterday’s steamer brought back a happy bride. The lady is iv?ll connected at Taranaki, and is the only daughter of Mr Cavcrhill. It is expected that the matter will be brought before the District Meeting and Conference, but it is whispered that, if so, the grave censors will be reminded that other laws are broken, and the brethren held guiltless. Smoking is indulged in by not a few, and they still maintain their posts. It is confidently stated that the~-precedent will encourage other young aspirants, and that during the next few months quite an army of young parsons will dare the.unnatural church laws, and gratify their heart’s longings after connubial felicity.
