A correspondent asks : —“ What is the use of the flagstaff at the Post Office, seeing that there is no bunting fluttering in the breeze, over the building on the Queen’s Birthday. A telegram from Tapanui states that After measles going through the district, and several children dying from after effects, typhod fever has broken out. The medical officer to the Borough declares the disease traceable to cesspits, which the Council will not do away with ia spite of recommendations. A grand ball ia notified to take place at the Oddfellows’ Hall, Barnard street, this evening, commencing at 8 o’clock—see advertisement.
