WANGANUI EXHIBITION.
Wanganui, May 21. The Exhibition of Art, Science, and Industry was opened this afternoon in the drillshed. The interior was well arranged. The exhibits have not yet been completely put in order, but sufficiently so to show the exhibition to be a decided success. Amongst the pictures is the original of Eeuben’s Martyrdom of St. Polycarp, an original Turner, and many other works by well known modern artists. A beautiful Japanese collection, and also an Indian collection, by A. Duncan and Wapham respectively, excites great interest. The, exhibits in every way are superior to those of 1877. The Exhibition will remain open for a month. It was opened with a address from Mr Gilbert King, Chairman of the Committee, and with a number of vocal and instrumental selections.
