Mr and Mrs Hart, of “Happy Hours” celebrity, arrived in Timaru to-day after about a twelvemonth’s absence. They open at the Theatre Royal on the Queen’s Birthday, and their clever and amusing entertainment was so successful on the occasion of their last visit here that they will no doubt draw large houses this time. We learn from the “Lyttelton Times ” that the spire of the Cathedral has been completed:—About half-past two p.rn, yesterday, the large cross which will surmount the sp're of the Cathedral was run up to the summit by means of the ropes in order to be fixed in position. The cross is a foliated one, of iron, richly gilt. It measures six feet in height, and five feet three inches across the arms. It is secured in its place by being fastened with bolts and bands to an iron bar, which runs downwards fron the finial stone through the whole of the solid portion of the spire, a distance of eighteen feet. The cross was made at the establishment of Mr Jowett, Tuam street. The ceremony was not accompanied by any ceremony, but a flag was hoisted in honor of the occasion.
