[Reuters Agency.j The Murder of Abdul AzizConstantinople, May 17. An enquiry has been held into the confession of four domestics of the Tcheragan Palace that they were concerned in the murder of the Sultan Abdul Aziz in 1876. The evidence adduced has led to the accusation of Midhat Pasha (who was Grand Vizier at the time of the Sultan’s death) of complicity in the crime. An Imperial decree has accordingly been issued de posing Mid hat Pasha from the position he occupies as Governor of Smyrna, and ordering his immediate arrest. News has, however, since been received from Smyrna to the effect that Midbat Pasha has lied from that place. May 18. Later intelligence has been received by the Government from Smyrna that Midhat Pasha has not, as at first stated, fled from the City, but has taken refuge in the French Consulate, and has appealed to the French and other foreign Consuls for protection from arrest by the Turkish authorities.
