THE ATTEMPTED SUICIDE IN THE PARK.

At the E.M. Court this morning, before R. Beetham, Esq., R.M., Michael Quirk was charged with attempting to commit suicide in the public Park by stabbing himself. Dr Chilton stated that the man had inflicted a wound two inches in depth in the pit of his stomach with a sheath knife. His recovery was at one time very doubtful. He might have been mentally affected at the time of the occurrence but if so he had recovered now. The defendant declined to question the witness or Mr Simmonds, caretaker at the Domain, who was also examined. He was committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court, being liberated in the meanwhile on his own recognisance of £SO.
