ATTEMPTED MATRICIDE.

A shocking attempt by a son to murder his mother is reported from St. Neots,Huntingdonshire. It appears that on March 12 a man about 25 years of f . - age,- named Thomas Bailey, a boot- . maker, who has been suffering for some time from religious monomania drew a sboemakers’s knife across the throat of mother as she was kneeling in front ’ of the fire. When asked what induced him to commit the crime, the prisoner answered, “We wanted to go to Heaven, both of ns.” The deposition of the in- ■ jured woman has been taken.
