SECOND WRECK OF THE TAUPO.
SECOND EDITION
[By Telegraph.] Auckland, April 30. The steamer Taupo when being towed by the Wellington to Auckland filled and sank seventeen miles outside Tauranga. A stiff breeze was blowing at the time. It is supposed that some gear below gave way. The men aboard had barely time to escape and they lost everything. The vessel was cased in wood sheading secured by chains which are believed to have given way.
