ANOTHER OCTOPUS ADVENTURE.
SECOND EDITION
The Kingston correspondent of the “ S. A. Advertiser ” states that Inkster, the diver, had another encounter with an oc'opus on March 12. Whilejworking under water he felt something about his legs, and was almost immediately swept off his feet and carried along bodily to the full extent of the air pipe. The attack was so sudden that the diver was unable to signal with the lifeline. There was a severe struggle, and Inkster killed the octopus, which was somewhat larger than the one that attackedhim previously. When the diver was first seized by the octopus the lifeline ran out so rapidly that the friction burnt the hands of the man holding it. Considerably over an hour elapsed before the creature was killed. It was then found to measure 15 feet, by the rule, from the tips of the tentacles on one side to the tips of those on the other.
